I am writing this because it is a study technique I want to investigate. I have never been good at studying the bible. I have never been good at studying for that matter. So I want to try this and see if it helps me. I am also not a writer. I have friends that are. They can write beautiful prose and stories that would rival John Grisham. I am not that type of writer. I don't have complete thoughts most of the the time, so the majority of my sentences are incomplete. I apologize ahead of time for my grammatical inadequacies.
Now that you know why I am doing this....
I am going to read through the Bible chapter by chapter expounding on every one. I will explain what I think that particular chapter is trying to say. I am NOT trying to convince anyone that they should believe what I am writing I am merely using this blog as a form of note taking. So if you do not agree with what I say I would love to know what you think but it will most likely not change what I have already stated.
Now to get started...
Genesis 1:
This is probably the most disputed chapter in the entire Bible. So this is a great start. There are so many beliefs on what the days mean and how long did it really take. I find myself at a junction. I trust the Bible. I know every word is true. I also know God is all powerful and can do anything. I also know that God created the universe. What I don't think a lot of people look at is that this is not the story of creation for the entire universe this is the creation of one singular planet. In verse 1 it says that God created the heavens and the earth, now... This indicates there is period of time between the time the "heavens and earth" were created and the "now". There's no telling how long that length of time was. I also take into consideration that since God created this universe He also created the physics that causes it to function like it does. I believe that God performs mighty acts but I also believe that He does them in the realm He created. In verse 1 it also states that the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. This would be God's presence physically on the earth. To me that is just an amazing thought. I'll talk about the six days and the creation of man a little later. For a first post I think this is ok.
